‘I don’t like Alejandro Garnacho as a person’ – Paul Parker

Former Manchester United star Paul Parker has claimed he does not like Alejandro Garnacho “as a person” amid the Argentine’s links with Chelsea.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Garnacho has been heavily linked with a January exit from Old Trafford as the club bid to raise extra funds. Napoli and Chelsea have both been linked with a swoop to sign the Argentine, with the winger’s agent spotted at Stamford Bridge as the Blues played Wolves. While both clubs are said to have concerns about his temperament, a £60 million ($74m) deal could still be in the offing.

THE BIGGER PICTUREGarnacho is still being used by United boss Ruben Amorim, but he has been limited to 11 starts in the Premier League this season. Thus far, the 20-year-old has made 118 career appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and registering 14 assists, and Parker has expressed his belief that United need to sell him in a stinging criticism of the youngster.

WHAT PARKER SAID

Parker spoke to BonusCodeBets, saying: “I have obviously seen that Garnacho is linked to Chelsea. I don’t like Garnacho as a person, but you can’t deny he has some sort of talent. For me it looks like everything has gone to his head and it’s not a good look for a young player. He will compete against 37 wingers at Chelsea, and he doesn’t seem like someone who likes competition, so I don’t know what he is on about.

“Obviously, I would like him to leave, and for Man United, it’s fantastic to see that Chelsea wants him, as they usually pay a lot of money for players. It’s great news really, but I don’t expect him to do very well. Why should he change just by going to London? He doesn’t stand for pressure, and he is only showing something when being subbed on. Best of luck to him, he needs it. He really needs it, and I hope he gets his head straight very soon.”

WHAT NEXT?

United play Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday. It is unclear if Garnacho will be involved in that game with transfer speculation ramping up as the winter deadline edges closer.
